Hazardous waste management is the process of handling, treating, and disposing of waste materials that pose a significant threat to human health, safety, and the environment. These materials can include chemicals, metals, biological agents, and other substances that, when improperly managed, can cause harm to living organisms and ecosystems.
System consists of a screw conveyor which will feed the dewatered sludge to rotary kiln.
Rotary kiln has internal flights, which will help in moving the sludge forward as well as turning it around in order expose the surfaces evenly to hot air.
The moisture in sludge gets dried and organics are oxidized. The volatiles will burn releasing some heat in kiln outlet.
Inorganic material falls at bottom of discharge breech into a hot ash conveyor.
The flue gasses go through a shell and tube heat exchanger, where the heat is recovered to heat-up hot air for kiln. Flue gasses exit kiln at 250 deg. C into a stack.
Hot air goes into a hot-air generator where temperature is boosted up by biogas fired burners, to provide hot air to rotary kiln.
This system performs task of drying as well as oxidizing the VOCs present in the sludge thus making the ash coming out inert
